ASB Formal Report- July to August
Position Assessment: The beginning of the year is one of the busiest times for my position for many reasons. We have Freshmen Orientation during the week of Pow-Wow, which we start planning for during the summer. We have Back to School night the second week of school, and then Renaissance sign-ups the last week of August. To start off, Morty and I were through a minor setback when the location of freshman orientation changed from the MUB to the football field. The normal training we would do with our Link Crew members had to be modified, and we had to start thinking of new ways to help the event run smoothly. Luckily the transfer was too hard to make, and we trained the Link Crew members on August 2 out on the football field. During this time period, my team and I (Jenna and Jenaveve) were working on finishing up all the name tags for the freshmen to wear and orientation and packing up all of the bags of jelly beans to give to them as well (over 300 of each of them). This event ran very well in my opinion, and I was proud of the work my team put in as well as the participation from the other Link Crew members. After that, we had some more Link Crew action, where the members wore their shirts on the first day of school to help freshmen, and then we had them help parents out at back-to-school night. The shirt definitely helped both of these events and our link crew members were super approachable. In preparation for Renaissance, Jenna, Jennaveve, and I did inventory on all of the Renaissance supplies in our file cabinets, which led us to realize we need to order new cards for this year. I filled out a P.O. for those cards, and edited the google form sign-ups with pictures. We created multiple canva posts to advertise the sign-ups, and so far just over 100 people have signed up!
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for a renaissance.
Special Committee: Since the dance was postponed I was not about to help with the fencing committee, but will be on the new set date for the dance.
Mentorship Evaluation: At the beginning of the year, I got to work with my partner, Lucia, introducing her portfolio since it was her first time using the website. She got everyone all done and now knows how to navigate on the website fairly well. Sadly during the second week of school, Lucia got quarantined due to a positive Covid test and I wasn’t able to collaborate with her in person. During this time, however, I was still able to text her and make sure she was staying in contact with her partner commissioners while being away from school.
Concerns: One concern I have after this first month of school is that Covid will get in our way once again. Even though this idea is inevitable because the pandemic is still evident and in some areas, continuing to rise more than others, I just for some reason thought we could have a normal year. The bad part of this concern is that the student body will be blaming us when things go wrong or events don’t fall through. We already had this issue slightly when the dance got postponed, but I think that depending on the way we handle these setbacks we might be fine with the backlash.
Positive comment: A positive comment I have is the preparation and overall execution of Club Rush last week. With it being our first major event back in person since Covid, I think we did such a great job as a team. It was so cool to see, as a commissioner, how hard all of the class officers worked on their t-shirt sales. Other commissioners who counted spirit and advertised the events throughout the week did an amazing job staying organized and coming up with fun ways to get our student body involved. The turnout on the actual Club Rush day made me feel like we were finally back in action again. Going a year without seeing the student body care about anything we did definitely hurt, and seeing all of these students signing up for clubs and just hanging out made me grateful for what we do. In a time about sharing our why, that feeling for me is definitely my why.
One change: One change I would like to see in our program is the creation of a more open environment where everyone can share their ideas. I feel that I haven’t heard that much from the freshmen this year, and I would really like to hear their opinions and ideas. Everyone’s voice matters in leadership and without complete collaboration from the class we might not be able to reach our full potential as a team. We want to put on the best events for our student body and make sure that everyone is included, so getting that freshmen perspective from their peers would help us accomplish that.
My impact: I’ve been working very hard to ensure that my purpose on this campus is affecting the lives of other students, and I think that I have already seen great things this year thus far. As Link Crew coordinator, my impact has always been to give the support they need and create an environment where they feel comfortable being themselves. We had an amazing freshmen orientation this year, and on the first day of school, I had so many freshmen ask me questions about their classes and the campus. This proved to me that we showed them that we are always there to help them!
ASB Formal Report- September/October
Position Assessment: Picking up where we left off at the end of August, renaissance sign-ups just finished and we had over 160 people sign up. The next week after we closed the sign ups, we started to get things moving with handing out rewards. Since we have such long days on our block periods, we transferred back to handing out renaissance rewards during class verus at lunch. My crew and I spent the September working on going through the sign-ups and making sure everyone got the correct cards, pins, and block R’s if applicable. Jenna and Jennaveve came up with a good idea of putting the ace tickets and renaissance cards inside the leftover zip locks we had in our inventory to keep everyones rewards more organized. Within two weeks, we knocked out all of the sophomore, junior, and senior 3.0-4.0 students that signed up and then handed them out with the help of some of our peers in leadership. I want to thank Gideon Waters for all of the help with packing the renaissance bags, and Abby, Emily, Brianna, and multiple others for helping hand out the rewards. We were able to hand out most of the rewards, except for two students who were in the wrong classroom. Other than that I think that the first round of renaissance went fairly smoothly, and I am looking forward to the next round with the promise of finals passes! Our next task for renaissance is to update our inventory of pins, passes, and R’s. Morty has already created the google form for our next sign-ups and we will be making canva posts soon.
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for a renaissance.
Special Committee: I was apart of two special committees these past two months. I helped out with coordination and the BTSD fencing. The BTSD fencing committee struggled because the district forgot to bring the fencing, however we made due and wrapped the two poles with a sturdy caution tape border. For the coordination committee, I dressed nice and helped set up for the hoco candidate rally, this included handling and holding up signs for students to know where their class sat. I also helped on coronation night and brought a black table cloth for the crowns to sit on before they were given to the king and queen.
Mentorship Evaluation: This program has been going so much better now that Lucia is back in person at school. We have gotten much closer, and we are also coincidentally girls league sisters as well. I love how supporting and funny Lucia is, and I'm glad that we have each other to check up on. We are planning a lunch date soon!!
Concerns: One concern I have for the upcoming events is the participation of the student body at rallies. The execution and preparation put into the rallies is very good and our rally commissioners are doing amazing. However, I know from hearing what people outside of leadership had to say about our Homecoming Candidate rally we need to try and fix the gaps between the students and the actual rally itself. It is easy for students to get sidetracked and not pay attention to the rally when it is not 10 yards in front of them. A solution for this problem is to try and allow all of the students on the field like seniors were. We have had night rallies in the past where all 4 classes fit on the field so I think if we had one class on each side of the middle of the field, forming a square, it would aid to the overall participation and smoothness of the rally.
Positive comment: A positive comment I have for this busy stressful 2 months is that everyone in leadership worked their butts off and put on, in my opinion, an awesome first real homecoming back. Each class put forth great posters, lip-sync dances, and floats for our student body, staff, and community. I am so proud to be a part of this family and through homecoming I feel like we grew even closer, well at least I know my junior class did. I want to shout out the candidates who were in leadership and managed to juggle everything with their classes to being on court. My lovely queen, Emma Phelps, worked so hard these past few months, and I am so proud of her work ethic. She displays a positive, caring image for the community and students on campus which is why she was voted to be our homecoming queen this year.
One change: I think that class has been running smoothly especially since we are now able to sit next to new people other than in our positions, but one change I would make is doing more classroom bonding activities. I know our time is crunched most of the time because of our events, but even doing the gratitude lesson the past week I feel like we were able to connect with each other more. Everyone was obviously in a sentimental state after reading their letters, and we were all there to comfort one another. Activities like this or highs and lows will make our class more unified and feel more comfortable around each other. If I learned anything from Brene Brown it is that you NEED vulnerability to be a leader, and by working on that aspect I think everyone in the class would gain.
My impact: My impact these past two months has been to influence my trainees in a positive way. I have been showing them a lot about the program and teaching them how to run things, which will help them for their future in this position. I have been trying to better myself and make a conscious effort to make other people’s day. Everyone deserves to have a smile on their face for at least a few seconds on the day, and the only way to make that happen is to simply compliment them or share your gratitude with them. From starting out with my trainees because it is a part of my job description, to the random people I see on campus I have been trying to make this my priority.

ASB Formal Report- November to December
Position Assessment: These past months have been busy especially towards the end of the second quarter. For my position I have had to do both renaissance and link crew stuff over the month of December. It started off with renaissance signups at the beginning of November, and then towards Thanksgiving Break we put all of the bags together with the ace tickets, gold and red cards, and pins. We decided to sort out the bags that needed to be with block R’s once we got back because it would be easier that way. Once we got back Jenna and I did all of the gold cards, and then Jennaveve did the red cards. We handed out all of the passes once we got back from break in the first week of December. This process was a little chaotic because so many students emailed Morty wondering where their final passes were even when they didn’t sign up for renaissance. This is frustrating because we put a bunch of time and effort into our work, and people complain because they are simply inpatient. After we dealt with all of the renaissance problems, the girls and I started to take inventory of our supplies because we needed to order a need card on Vistaprint. This process will take awhile but is in the works. We jumped right into planning Study Buddy Night. We were given the right to hold on in the MUB during the first week of December. This was rushed but we immediately sent out emails to the school, staff, link crew members and teachers. We are still working on a P.O. however the snacks are going to be bought at Costco anyways. The publicity for this event is going out soon, and we hope that the event will run smoothly!
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for a renaissance. Link crew Study Buddy Night is also upcoming which is on December 14th.
Special Committee: N/A at this time.
Mentorship Evaluation: Lucia and I have been rocking and rolling, and I love our friendship. We have been checking in on each other frequently. This quarter I have been busy with renaissance, and she has been counting spirit counts for warm and fuzzy week and previous spirit weeks. We are also girls league sisters, so we have been going to all those meetings and bonding with each other there. We did a sister scavenger hunt with each other, and are each other's secret santas for girls league as well. I have been helping her with her resume and cover letter as well. I am excited for the rest of the year with her.
Concerns: A concern I have for the class that I have noticed recently is that during incredibly busy weeks where we are planning multiple events, our class time is used for other activities such as book study. I think book study is great and has important lessons, however, when we get carried away in our discussions it can sometimes be unproductive. Last week for instance we had the sophomores running 3 events and renaissance who needed to get all of their stuff handed out in only 1 day because of this. I think on our work days a lot of the class members mess around however that is because they do not realize they can help out where it is needed. But assigning other work to do because there are so many people who mess around is not fair to the people with a lot on their plate.
Positive comment: A positive comment I have at this time is that the sophomore class put on an amazing winter formal. I was shocked that their set up looked as nice as it did. I know they put a lot of time and effort into this dance, and it definitely showed. They adapted to the changes thrown at them with covid restrictions. Everyone that I talked to gave me positive feedback about the dance, and some even said it was the best dance they have ever gone to at Ripon high school. The sophmores have set a high standard for dances in the future.
One change: My change goes hand and hand with my concern. Something that I feel like there was more of when I first came into the program was committees. I remember signing up for a lot of committees and helping out with things that weren’t in my job description. I think a lot of people in this program who get assigned things do not ask for help and let their work overwhelm them. We are here together as a family, and that should be utilized more in our class. This also helps freshmen branch out and explore their future positions.
My impact: With the second quarter Renaissance sign upd quarter, I have been trying my best to encourage others to do well in their classes. The end of the first semester is always rough for students, and through Renaissance rewards kids have a motive to get good grades. I’m glad I get to provide and organize these rewards so students don’t feel like school is pointless. Their hard work pays off, and as a student I know how hard they work. It is cool to see how valued the finals passes are, and when a bunch of kids email me and Morty asking to check their grades or name once again, it proves that they truly care. Despite how annoying this can get, it warms my heart when people acknowledge that your efforts have moved them in a positive direction.
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for a renaissance. Link crew Study Buddy Night is also upcoming which is on December 14th.

ASB Formal Report- January
Position Assessment: For the month of January, Link Crew was busy planning and organizing 8th grade day. We started off tackling the event by having a meeting with Morty about everything that needed to be done for the day, and discussing solutions for covid restrictions. We were able to get staff members' opinions, and thankfully there has been a lot of good cooperation going on. We have taken inventory of our supplies needed for the event, including name tags, wristbands, charcoal, and lighter fluid. We were able to give the barbecue supplies to Mr. B and did not have to order any more. We have been arranging the schedule with the staff that will be missing their classes that day, and have asked for sub requests. Jenna, Jenneve, and I immediately started working on name tags and organizing the freshmen into groups. In the mix of this, renaissance 3rd quarter sign ups just started so we took a pause on the 8th grade welcome day prep and got all of our bags for renaissance sorted. We are going to try and finish sorting them this week now that we have finished all of the wrist bands and name tags for each school (to be sent out with the leadership team). Also, we can’t forget that we held an information meeting for the upcoming link crew class and handed out applications. A week after this meeting was the group interview with all of the applicants for the program. This interview went great, and we got some awesome feedback for the new 2022-2023 year. Finally, as of yesterday we just ordered t-shirts for the upcoming link crew members, praying that they will be able to get her in time for our event on the 22nd!
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for renaissance 3rd quarter signups.
Special Committee: N/A at this time.
Mentorship Evaluation: Lucia and I have been checking on each other over the course of this month per usual, however I think we still need to do better. We see eachother everyday after the first period and talk during passing because we walk by the same classrooms. This is good for us to check in with each other even if it is small talk. I would be interested in hanging out in a group setting because we do have mutual friends. I try to uplight her because I think she is so genuine and genuinely funny too! We snapchat as well which is a good way for us to connect.
Concerns: One of my concerns from this month was the amount of unknown, undocumented stuff we have in the storage room. As my girls and I went in there to find lighter fluid and charcoal, we found a lot of other random things that I bet our leadership class was unaware that we have. I do not know if it is still in the public relations job description. However, I know when I applied for the position, it was in the job description to keep the storage room organized and order new supplies once we ran out. I think it would be beneficial to keep a main whiteboard with inventory on it, so when an item was used it can be charted that it is no longer in the storage room. This is also a way to know what is all in the storage room before people go rummaging around in it. If the room was organized then, I think that the supplies in there from multiple years ago would not go to waste!
Positive comment: A positive comment I have for this month goes to everyone who has given their speech already. Public speaking can be a hard task to do for a lot of people, and I think that many people this year have truly gone out of their comfort zone to give their 100% effort with their speech. It has been very interesting to listen to everyones’ (random) impromptu topics and as an elder in the program, it has been cool to see how my peers have grown since their first time speaking in front of a group setting. Also, the freshmen who stereotypically have bad public speaking skills, blew me out of the water this year. Gia and Sophie have such smooth voices, and they both created such beautiful stories for their speeches this year. Props to them!
One change: One change I would make for this month is to put renaissance rewards in teachers boxes versus us having to hand them out. As the head of the position, I am always trying to find new ways to make our work more organized and efficient. The biggest struggle with renaissance is how time consuming it is to hand out the rewards, and how teachers get mad at us for interrupting their class. To solve this problem we want to try and put the rewards in a bag to store in the teachers box. Now granted it will take more work to organize the rewards by each classroom, but we already partly do that. This change would be much more beneficial for my trainees and I as well as the teachers whose classes we would be interrupting.
My impact: In January, I worked towards my impact of the year by publicizing events from the link crew such as the Informational meetings and the interview process. I had a lot of people emailing, texting, and talking to me in person regarding the questions they had about Link Crew. With the student body being back on campus full time this year, I wanted to get as many people to step up as possible. We publicized to all different types of people, and surprisingly there was a large number of sophomores who I had not seen involved before, step out of their comfort zone. With my impact being to welcome people and encourage them to try new things, I think the turn out we got for the interview and the diversity of the turn out, showed how many people truly felt motivated to make a difference in our campus. This motivates me to do better at my job and be a role model for them.

ASB Report- February & March
Position Assessment: At the beginning of February 8th grade Day was already into full swing. We had ordered shirts, picked out new link crew members, and organized all the name tags and wristbands for the 8th graders. The only thing left to do was to wait until the day was to come… (which was what we thought at least). We seemed to forget about the out of district students in our planning. Morty received an email from the counseling office with the list of all of these students, so we were able to make their wristbands and name tags as well. After this I prepared a basket to put in Morty’s cart for the event, which was full of extra wristbands, nametags, the schedules, along with posters for the link crew members to sign. The week of the event, I proceeded to make my group number poster with my group member, Kaylee. We were able to meet before the actual 8th grade day, and this was good to get to know each other. Overall, once the event was over, I think we were relieved but also glad that it turned out the way it did. It is always hard to run events with 8h graders because one, they are not familiar with the campus, and two they lack the maturity to have respect during appropriate times. Despite all this, the link crew members, staff, and Morty all handled them very well in general sessions. I was grateful for all the lovely humans who helped make this event happen, and truly put effort into welcoming the incoming students. My trainees and I started on the procedure form afterwards, and we wrote thank you cards to everyone involved, including the principals of the elementary schools. March was a month for us to breathe after the chaotic January and February, so there was not much done on our part except preparing for renaissance. Renaissance signups went out at the end of the month, and we are going to start them the week after.
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for renaissance 4rd quarter signups.
Special Committee: I helped with the gallery of the arts set up and clean up, as well as the teacher appreciation special committee for the Challenge. In this committee, I was in charge of decorations so I drew out the sketch for the staff room’s door. This door will be decorated prior to the breakfast that we are providing the teachers with on May 3.
Mentorship Evaluation: For February and March, Lucia and I finally got to see each other's ABC books that we made for each other. It was nice to see all the thought and detail she put into this small little assignment, and it made me realize how much our bond has grown throughout the year. We both thanked each other for being so kind in our booklets, and we have also started to talk more through social media. Outside of school, we have been actively holding conversations and replying to each other's stories. This makes me happy because she is hilarious.
Concerns: One concern I have that has generated from the past two months is when we took our yearbook photo. This concern is small, but that is because I think we have been doing so good as a class. Since we were given the option to wear our black polo or red sweater, I think it made us kinda patchy. It would look overall better if everyone was held accountable to bring their one piece of clothing for the photo, and not have to rely on two options. This would obviously be a change for years to come, but I think it is an easy tweak that would add a bit of professionalism and class to our program's reputation.
Positive comment: One positive comment that I have is about the gallery of the arts. This event ran so well, and I think that compared to the past events it was incredibly successful. There was such a good turnout and all of the detailed planning turned out very good. The addition of the poetry, sculptures, and the guest speaker were all great for the publicity of the event. These different aspects being a part of the event definitely helped draw in a bunch of different crowds. Emma, April, Anthony, Gia, Sophia and Avery were all great contributors to putting on this event, and I wanted to shout out their amazing efforts. I can wait for what we will create next year with the huge strides we made this year!
One change: These past two months were very chaotic with multiple groups doing multiple events, but I think we were able to stay on task for the most part. We handled ourselves as a class very well, whether it was when unexpectedly Morty was gone, when Namoi was out, or when we were overwhelmed with tasks. However, one thing I will say is that we do have a problem with the noise level in the library. In my opinion, it is not fair to Mrs. Olrich who graciously lets us use her space during 4th period, to have to listen to kids cussing, or being obnoxiously loud. I don’t think that it is too bad, but sometimes I feel like we are being disrespectful. This mainly applies to work days and the times in class where we are all busy. These are the most chaotic days, which creates a lot of noise in the class. Therefore, I think we can try better to be a quieter class for her.
My impact: My focused impact for this class during February and March was to bring light to the incoming class of 2025, and introduce the Link Crew leaders to their newly received jobs. As we interviewed all juniors and seniors who signed up for Link Crew and reviewed their applications, we were able to choose some great candidates for the 2022-2023 year. These leaders attended their first event, 8th Grade Day, which helped introduce them to their new jobs as Link Crew leaders. Morty and I ran a meeting the week before the event and educated these leaders on their expectations when looking over 8th graders. I was able to share my past knowledge from being a trainee leader to an actual one of the past 2 years, and I also had the chance to have a group of my own! It was so nice to see all the 8th graders and get to know the incoming class. I am super excited for next year, and I can’t wait to see what 2022-2023 will bring.

Formal ASB Report April & May
Position Assessment: For the month of April and May, I have been finishing up renaissance and prepping for my last event of Study Buddy Night. After we finished handing out renaissance for the 4th quarter, we had to go back through the people who applied for 4.0 cards and received a graduation ticket for free. Then, we had to assign envelopes to each of these students by writing their name and classroom number on them. We then gave these envelopes to Morty, and she is going to put graduation tickets in them. On top of writing their names, we had to section out the seniors apart from all of the other grade levels because Morty is going to give them to them when she hands out their cap and gowns. This was an easy job to do, and I’m glad we were able to give them their tickets in a professional manner. I think that this year was a success with link crew and renaissance, and there was a lot of new growth that came out of it. I am satisfied with the time I put into this, and I hope it continues to gain the support it has gotten this year.
Standing Committee: Refer to position assessment for renaissance 4rd quarter signups.
Special Committee: I helped with the decorations committee for the end of the year dance. We set up before the dance around 4 and were able to decorate the stage for the DJ and the classrooms next to the amphitheater for a photobooth. This event turned out looking amazing, and I would say it was one of our best decorated events this year. I was also on the Teacher Appreciation Committee for the challenge. This day turned out to be good, and I think the teachers appreciated our breakfast bar. I was in charge of the door decorations for that day, which sadly did not get put up because we were at the CATA conference. However, Kylee and I put it up the next day and still got good feedback from it.
Mentorship Evaluation: As we are reflecting on the past few months, I was able to look back at the growth that my partner and I have had this year. Without this program, I would not have gotten to know Lucia on the level I did. I think that this was good for me to branch out of my shell and not only get to know someone outside of my grade, but outside of my friend group and job position I’m in. Lucia and I worked at the dance together cleaning up the popcorn machine and this was very fun. I think that something fun to do next year would be to have different mentors throughout the year so we are able to get close to multiple people in the class.
Concerns: A concern I have is the amount of procrastination that occurred with the multiple pages section of our portfolio. I will admit that I was not prepared for this section either and frantically got everything uploaded in one day prior to the deadline. I think that this section should be addressed at the beginning of the year a little more so we are aware of it, but it still is our job at the end of the day to know what is required of us. These pages would’ve turned out much better if we had actually been collecting photos of them throughout the year. I think that we are rightfully held at a high standard, and we could've worked on our preparation for this assignment though.
Positive comment: A positive comment from the last few months of school is that our class has been super supportive of all the seniors who are giving their farewell speeches. It has been nice to have a bittersweet moment with these seniors because they were great role models for everyone this year. This class was probably one of the funniest yet most hard working classes that has come through the program, well at least for the 3 years that I have been in the program. I am grateful to have gotten to know all of them because I have earned so much from every single one of them. It is inspiring to see them share their memories with each other because it makes me want to create the same memories with my class.
One change: One change I would make is bettering the communication amongst different groups in leadership. During the challenge we obviously noticed a huge disconnect between our class and our advisor. Since this event was run by us completely, we were in charge of the communication of all of the publicity for Morty to post, as well as the communication with the admin regarding our events. There were definitely a few complentaints about this which means it was something we struggled with. A solution to this issue would be to create multiple small group chats so everyone is in the loop with their select job and committee. When first came into leadership we used to do this all the time, so I think it would be good to implement again.
My impact: My impact this month has meant providing an open space for people to come and work where they feel comfortable. I am referring to the two study buddy night sessions that we planned for the month of May. These sessions are open to the whole school for anyone to come into the library for 2 hours at a time and work on anything they need to catch up on or get help with before their finals. Having the link crew members and teachers attend aids to those who need help with their finals. I am glad we got to hold this event once again, and there will be many more in the future.
